Coffee Level Redo

So last week some of our staff was away and many of the students had exams. This left a lot of time for those left at the Centre to do some projects. It all started with Josh and Jamie wanting to redo the Coffee Level menu board. After an entire afternoon the guys were still trying to decide on the right font. :)) The next day they finally decided on one. They decided on curly lettering; actually, for guys they didn't do all that bad :0) The final product However, the guys were still board out of their minds and thought what a cool idea it would be to repaint the entire coffee level a different color while Krista (who runs our coffee level) is away. As well as the fact we had so much time on our hands and everyone else was gone. So after much debate and consideration we went through with it. I spent last Sat. painting our coffee level with Josh and Jamie. Hear are the before and after photos...and some others ;0) We decided on a deep red. We thought that most coffee shops have darker tones. We wanted to make it with a more homey feel. Kris and I decided on the red and the guys went to get it. I have to say, I've never been more impressed with guys who got so close to the color we were thinking. :0) Of course trimming comes first... This next photo pretty much explains what MY afternoon was like. I did all the ceilling trimings and "hard to reach with a normal paint brush" area. I spent my day on a ladder pretty much. We did all the red first... Again, "hard to reach places" :0) Now we're seeing it come together ;0) Yes, for all you experts...we did get that blue showing behind the air conditioner. :0) I found an interesting bug... Michelle's getting tired...:)) Jamie and Josh still going strong :0) Ok moving onto the black...everything yellow must turn black... Josh even tried my job for a bit...I don't think he liked it very much :) Yeah still on the ladder... Ahhh...a nice sharp look... Ok so the final product of phase two of Coffee Level Redo... So everyone must know that Krista has still not returned from her trip and she has no idea we've done this to the coffee level. :0) What's that saying about "do it now, and ask forgiveness later." ;0) This next photo is for my cousin Chanelle. Chanelle insisted that there are way too many peace signs in Thailand photos, and that I should shake things up a bit and throwing a "rocker" sign in there once in a while. So Chanelle, this one's for you :0))

Wrong Place, Wrong Time :O

Ok so by way of introduction...what you're about to see was not intentional...in fact there is only nature to blame. :0) Alright, there is need for a little expanation. Occasionally there will be a nice breeze that makes it through our house. However, that breeze turns into a great wind down the hallway, and sometimes and without expecting it the wind whips back the other way and slams my door shut. This has happened so many times when I'm minding my own business and then "BANG" and my heart jumps 10ft out of its place. Most of the time I shut my door so I don't freak out again or I place something heavy in front of it. Of course, in the beginning when I was still learning this, I could be a little forgetful. So one day I walk into my room---REMEMBER, I have many little friends who like to join me in my room (namely gecos) and often startle me. Well, this particular day as I was walking back out of my room I spotted one of these little guys which startled me again. Only..... As I took a closer look I realized this little guy would not be starttling me anymore... Nope, not a chance... He was there for good. :0* So as all this is trying to process in my mind as to how I could have done this, seeing that these gecos are super fast....it begins to recall to my mind....."ah yes, ...the Wind." This is when I began to laugh and take pictures and think of what a great blog this could be :0) And as if this disturbing humor and natuaral disasterous event wasn't enough...as I'm taking pictures of this one and trying to get the best angle I notice this.... Yes, indeed it is another one on the same door!!! I had just about had enough for one day. All in all I think it's kind of disgusting to have this on your door, but the thought of cleaning it up is even more disgusting...so these two are still stamped on my door (they'll probably be there for the next people who move in). I know I know...that's really gross, but it's a continual reminder to keep my door shut. I don't seem to forget anymore....Figures :0) What can I say, the poor little guys were at the wrong place at the wrong time.

When it rains it pours, and when it pours it floods :0)

So this past Wednesday, the Centre staff decided we wanted to do a team building event. We took a picnic lunch up to the mountain, and enjoyed some singing and fellowship time. During our time there it started to rain...then pour...as we made our way down the mountain, this is what we came back to. :0) This is outlooking from the Centre to my house. :0) Now take a closer look :)) This is Wor...
I'm not actually sure if that lawm mower ever worked before...
Old Navy flipflops are always a good investment. Stands through floods at least :0)
Thank God for the men who had the smarts to build this house a little higher. This is our front step.
What can ya do?....
Our neighbors run a laundry service...they were in desperate need of some drainage.
Well, this is not the reason we are moving from the house really, but it definately makes it easier to make the decision. :0)

Agape Home

Before the SIM team left, a few of them wanted to see a ministry outside the city called the Agape Home. This home houses and cares for children with HIV/Aids or who are from families infected with the virus. I wanted to tag along and I was blessed. I hope to visit again. We were able to spend all of Saturday afternoon with the kids and just play games and have fun. Their cafateria... This was my friend Thaan... I'm certainly not as cute doing it... Thaan was glued to Naddia and I the whole time we were there. Such a sweet kid. She knew a little English, but just stuck to our names mostly.
